RHT’s Plan to Achieve

Net Zero Carbon by 2030

In our race to net-zero emissions by 2030, ONERHT has set carbon reduction targets that are aligned with the globally accepted Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13.

Our Carbon Footprint

Through well-defined purpose and quantifiable performance, the plan to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 cuts across our ecosystem.
From our 2019 baseline, to achieve our net zero goal, we will:

01

Reduce our Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2025

02

Reduce our Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2025

03

Achieve green certification for all our offices, for example, our HQ is in Paya Lebar Quarter, a BCA Platinum Green Mark building

For our remaining footprint, we will remove carbon from the atmosphere through mainly nature-based solutions.
Advocacy for a Change

We Cannot Achieve Net Zero on Our Own

We work with the community at large to achieve our net zero goals.

We continue to engage our peers, regulators, and industry bodies to support policies relating to Singapore’s climate change defences and the Singapore Green Plan 2030 to align to the Paris Agreement goal to achieve net zero by 2050 or sooner.

In 2021, we co-authored the COP26 paper – joint effort by COP26 Universities Network and the British High Commission Singapore to share our views from the industry perspective.

Placing sustainability at the core of our business will positively impact policies and processes across procurement, human resources, information technology, supply chain, partnerships and alliances, and other corporate affairs.

We advocate for internal carbon pricing to raise awareness and appreciation of the carbon currency.

We have started engaging and working with our suppliers to understand the importance of reducing their carbon footprint. Their performance constitutes a major part of our carbon footprint.

In 2019, we invested in AirCarbon Exchange, the world’s first fully digital exchange for voluntary carbon offsets.

ONERHT’s philanthropic organisation, ONERHT Foundation (“Foundation”), has raised more than S$3 million since its inception in 2015 to support beneficiaries involved in the environment and sustainability, education, disadvantaged groups, as well as the arts and sports.

In 2018, the Foundation commissioned its Greening ASEAN: Initiatives and Leadership (GAIL) programme, launching its inaugural sustainability forum and gala awards the following year.

In 2020, the Foundation launched a social enterprise, RHT G.R.A.C.E. Institute, which promotes leadership anchored on ESG principles. Meanwhile, ONERHT relocated its offices to Paya Lebar Quarter, a BCA Platinum Green Mark building.

In 2021, RHTLaw Asia launched its ESG practice while the RHT Group of Companies launched its sustainability and consulting offering, collaborating with partners to co-create and invest in ESG digital assets solutions for decarbonisation.

We aim for quantifiable and measurable outcomes – RHT’s own team of sustainability consultants will implement a full accounting process for its carbon footprint using the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the world’s widely used greenhouse gas accounting standard, supported by digital monitoring and reporting systems.

Regular and transparent disclosures to communicate our progress in line with Global Reporting Initiative framework.
