Sim Sze Kuan serves as Of Counsel at RHTLaw Asia, specializing in private client services. With over 30 years of experience in the legal field, Sze Kuan possesses an exceptional background in family office and private wealth management.
In the 1990s, Sze Kuan was a partner at a prominent law firm in Singapore and Hong Kong, where he advised clients on a wide range of matters, including corporate, banking, real estate, and venture capital transactions.
Throughout the 2000s, he held the position of Vice President (VP) of Legal for Asia’s largest life sciences venture capital fund, established by the Singapore government agency, EDB Investments as part of the nation’s efforts to develop a robust life sciences industry.
Following this, Sze Kuan joined a large Asian multinational corporation in the resources and manufacturing sector, leading the legal team across its diverse business units in Asia, Europe, and South America. Amongst his key roles was serving as the VP Legal and Compliance Officer for the Family Office’s SFC-licensed Hong Kong asset management arm, overseeing regulatory compliance, investment funds structuring and compliance, and transaction support for all investments including capital and debt market transactions, acquisition, structuring and financing of exceptional, prime quality commercial real estate properties in major world financial centres.
Sze Kuan also led the legal team for the HK based Family Office, managing private wealth structures and transactions including trusts and other investment structures, family foundations, estate and succession planning, tax and residency planning, regulatory compliance, art acquisitions and ownership.
Through his extensive experience in both private practice and in-house legal roles, Sze Kuan has developed a comprehensive understanding of the legal and commercial aspects of corporate, asset management, family office operations, and private wealth transactions.
