The Future of Practice

Overview

ONE Firm for Tomorrow

Change is the mantra for future law practice

The market continues to evolve amidst rapid advances in technology, challenging the way lawyers traditionally do business. Law firms of the future are likely to be leaner and smaller, and therefore more agile, nimble, and efficient.

Things are only impossible until they’re not. To go boldly where no law firm has gone before, we are transforming ourselves and reimagining the future of practice.

Technology-driven

Our thinking towards technology has always been “How can we do what we do much better?” From digitisation of documents to digitalising our processes, the transformation is a marathon, not a sprint.

Realising that lawyers are expected to work from anywhere and at any time, we trialled firmwide remote working with new collaborative tools before COVID-19 made it the default. When the pandemic forced us to move our events online, we adopted live broadcast technology to deliver a more engaging conference experience for our audience.

We are now in the midst of an organisation-wide digital transformation which will enable data-driven decision making and automate of repetitive tasks. The future of practice will be augmented by technology, enabling us to do more with less.

Borderless Practice

To be a leading law firm in Asia’s business hub, we need to be ONE across Asia. We built the ASEAN Plus Group and continue to expand our regional offices to deliver seamless cross-border solutions for clients.

Through joint ventures and partnerships, supported by technology, we will further strengthen cross-border collaboration and broaden our reach to deliver purposeful growth in Asia.

Beyond Law

Clients expect lawyers to be more than lawyers, and to provide much more than legal services. To give clients access to multidisciplinary professional services, we created an independent business that has grown into ONERHT.

Going Green

Through our corporate social responsibility programmes, we have pursued our own environment, social and governance (ESG) agenda over the years. In 2021, we took a major step towards fighting climate change and unveiled plans to achieve net zero carbon by 2030.

We also launched an ESG practice to equip clients with the right advice and knowledge to navigate ESG considerations and regulatory requirements as well as compete in Singapore’s green economy.

Blockchain Solutions

Together with ONERHT, we have invested in innovative blockchain platforms, including digital asset exchange SDAX and digital carbon exchange ACX. These investments add valuable expertise and enable us to broaden our suite of integrated services with future ready capabilities.
