  • trained as Investor State Mediator (by Centre of Effective Dispute Resolution with the International Centre of Settlement of Investment Disputes & recognised by the International Mediation Institute);
  • an Adjudicator with the Asia International Arbitration Centre
  • an Arbitrator, Fellows of the Chartered, Singapore and Philippines Institutes of Arbitrators and trained as an International Investment Treaty Arbitrator at AIAC

Anil was in April 2023 appointed by the Law Society of Singapore as the Chairperson for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Working Group. He has since 2014 and continues to be the Honorary Legal Advisor to the Singapore Institute of Architects, Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers and Society of Interior Designers Singapore.

Anil qualified and is admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore (1995); a Solicitor of England and Wales (2009); qualified as Barrister at Law (Middle Temple) England & Wales (1993); and holds a Master of Science in Construction Law & Arbitration, Kings College London & National University of Singapore (2006).

With a career spanning international legal practice with the arbitration with international law firm Lovells Lee & Lee (2008 – 9) and in house as General Counsel and Director of Contract Advisory and Dispute Management division of Davis Langdon & Seah – Arcadis Group (2006 – 8), Anil is well versed in appropriate arbitration. Before graduating with an LLB Hon from the University of Buckingham (UK – 1992), Anil was an Infantry Officer for five years with the Singapore Armed Forces (1983 – 8).

  • International Arbitration (including with construction/infrastructure related work) - Anil has advised both on front end and managing conflicts and disputes, and/or acted as counsel and co-counsel for (a) architectural firm on architectural consultancy agreements for major construction projects and incorporation of architectural services company in Dubai; (b) Quantity Surveyors (as In House counsel for its group of companies in Singapore, India, Vietnam & Korea) on construction and infrastructure projects including procurement strategy on airport developments,  infrastructure steel structure for power plant, oil and gas projects, tunneling and excavation, for developers, building owners and contractors in residential, commercial, institutional, industrial, infrastructural and Public Private Partnership projects in Singapore, Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Vietnam; (c) developers, building owners, contractors and sub-contractors on projects including etc. on issues with procurement, negotiations, and administering projects, managing the project; dealing with disputes including defects, delays, extension of time, change order, liabilities for damage to equipment and maintenance agreement, liquidated damages; and reviewing appropriate disputes resolution mechanism and resolving disputes via Mediation, Adjudication, Arbitration and Litigation; (d) largest Sri Lankan conglomerates in a US$ 165 million dispute arising from the investment, sale and development of land governed by Sri Lankan law and administered the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Sri Lanka; and (e) foreign oil and gas Investment Company in joint venture dispute relating to oil field concessions, governed by English law and administered by the London Courts of International Arbitration (LCIA) in London.
  • Legal Technology  – Anil is represented on the Ministry of Law Singapore (& LUPL Inc partnered)’s Advisory Member (pioneer) on the Industry Engagement and Advisory Group (IEAG) for the Legal Tech Platform (LTP); AIAC’s Technology Experts Committee (TEC); the Singapore Academy of Law’s pioneer batch (2018) of legal practitioners on the Future Law Innovation Programme and mentor (2019) on its Global Legal Innovation & Digital Entrepreneurship programme; on the Singapore Management University‘s Graduate Certificate in Law & Technology and Executive Certificate on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning programmes; and founding member (2019) of the Asia Pacific Legal Innovation and Technology Association.
