Tat Seng was incorporated in Singapore on 22 December 1977. To prepare for a listing on the SGX-ST, it converted into a public company and changed its name to Tat Seng Packaging Group Ltd on 27 February 2001.
The Company designs, manufactures and sells corrugated paper packaging products such as corrugated boards and cartons for the packaging of electronics and electrical, food, pharmaceutical and other products according to its customers' specifications. It serves the packaging needs of various industries in Singapore and China by supplying a range of corrugated paper packaging products of different configurations and sizes.
Its customers include Matsushita Electronics (S) Pte Ltd, Tyco Electronics Singapore Pte Ltd, GES Singapore Pte Ltd, Infineon Technologies Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Mentor Media Ltd, Baxter Healthcare (Asia) Pte Ltd, Tee Yih Jia Food Mfg Pte Ltd, KC Dat (Singapore) Pte Ltd, LG-Tontru Colour Display System Co, Dupont Suzhou Polyester Co, Becton Dickinson Medical Devices Co Ltd, Advanced Micro Devices (Suzhou) Ltd and Daito-Osim Healthcare Appliances (Suzhou) Co Ltd.
The Company's production facilities are presently undertaken in factories located in Nantong Tongzhou, Hefei, Suzhou and NanTong Rugao China.
In October 2005, following the sale of a majority stake of 51 percent of Tat Seng by the Group's two major shareholders and directors to Hanwell Holdings Ltd (”Hanwell”), Hanwell launched a take-over offer for the remaining shares of the Company. At the close of its offer in November 2005, Hanwell held a 64 percent stake in the Company.
