Appointment of Partner Alvin Chen

Let us welcome Alvin Chen, who has rejoined the firm as Partner, General Counsel, and Chief Knowledge Officer.

Alvin is an experienced lawyer who has worked in both the public and private sectors. He was formerly a Deputy Public Prosecutor and a Deputy Senior State Counsel of the Attorney-General’s Chambers. He was also formerly the Chief Legal Officer of the Law Society of Singapore.

Alvin’s strengths are in legal advisory work. He has been actively involved in several legislative drafting and law reform projects, one of which was for a public sector client. Alvin has extensive experience in regulatory matters pertaining to the legal profession, including professional ethics and risk management and compliance.

Alvin has spoken in and presented at various local and international conferences and seminars on a wide range of topics. In addition to authoring articles for law journals and the Singapore Law Gazette, he has published books and book chapters on professional regulation and ethics with Lexis-Nexis, Sweet & Maxwell, and Hart Publishing.

Alvin was called to the Singapore Bar in 2004. In 2009, he was conferred two Master of Laws degrees by New York University and the National University of Singapore.

Alvin has other significant professional interests in the fields of artificial intelligence, data analytics and public policy. He had obtained a Certificate in Artificial Intelligence from the Singapore Management University in 2020 and a Professional Certificate in Public Policy and Administration from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in 2021.
